Ray Edwards came to school to talk to the children about his life as a quad amputee. They watched with fascination as he explained how he had overcome illness as a teenager and after contracting septicemia learnt to walk again with the use of artificial limbs. The children followed Ray along his trek up Kilimanjaro and his determination to conquer something which would normally be beyond the reach of many!
Ray’s talk not only motivated the children to arrange a triathlon to raise money for Limbcare, but also left them with a greater understanding and empathy for others.
Ray is truly inspirational and taught the children the most valuable lesson that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and never give up. He gained many friends that day and memories of him running and cycling with the children will remain with them for ever!
